Salaam Cultural Museum sponsors public events, media, and other educational activities in association with community groups based in Seattle. Many of our current projects are created in cooperation with independent groups such as the Arab American Community Coalition (a Seattle-based civil rights group) or Cune Press (a Seattle-based independent book publisher).
Bridge Between the Cultures (BBTC) SCM is sponsoring publication of a number of books on the MENA region. Under the "Bridge Between the Cultures" banner, we are bringing authors and other experts on tour and conducting a wide range of media interviews and public events designed to spur a national dialogue that will encourage peace in Palestine-Israel, Iraq, and a solution to the problem of international terrorism. In addition, BBTC is sponsoring the development of the virtual civil society concept and its application to the country of Syria
Currently scheduled BBTC events: In 2006, SCM will bring political cartoonist Ali Farzat & poltical commentator Sami Moubayed from Damascus to 10 US cities.

Arab-American Community Coalition (AACC) The Arab American Community Coalition was created in the wake of the September 11th attacks to foster mutual understanding among people of all races and ethnicities--especially Arabs and Muslims living within the Unted States. Most AACC activities take place in the greater Seattle (or Puget Sound) area. One practical service of the AACC is to represent the Arab-American community when meeting with public officials and when reporting personal attacks or harassment.
Cune Press Cune Press (from "cuneiform") is a mission-oriented independent book publisher that was founded in 1994 to bring thoughtful writers to public attention. Cune publishes fiction, literary nonfiction, and also educational texts that are useful to teachers and home-schooling parents. Cune's Bridge Between the Cultures series publishes books by Arabs, Arab-Americans, and Americans who are engaged with the MENA region. Cune survives on volunteer labor and financial contributions.
